Help me spend some money

I have sold my 78 ,so got a little cash to spend on my other ones. I' m going to get new rims for my Excursion to update it. I have about a thousand left over to put into my F-250. This truck is bone stock, except for CD player under seat AM/FM/CASS still in dash. It has 238k on it. It is a work truck,it pulls a #3500 trailer everyday. Stock size tires. I want to improve power and MPG. I'm thinking intake and exhaust, but with that many miles don't want to go crazy. I have a K-N FIPK on my Excursion and they say it could add 10hp for this model. Need some good advise . With high fuel prices maybe, I should just save it for that. Thanks

forget the KnN, no good. they leak and dust turbos. as for the mileage, yours is just breaking in. id say get a 4" exhaust system (turbo back w/ a round downpipe), a tymar intake (search 6637 filter mod on here for instructions), and a tony wildman chip. then get yourself atleast a pyrometer and boost guage. that shoud still leave ya with a few hundred left over and provide you with both increases in horsepower and fuel mileage. it will also help you in the towing and general driveability aspects.

yup. i like bein able to read codes with my superchip though. and i get good mileage. 14mpg around town mixed between my mowing equipment and 16,000 pound tractor and trailer. we have had k+n many miles between 3 trucks with no problems. i wouldnt mind dusting my turbo to get a new one LOL. but, the dirt is bad on the engine too of course

If they were gassers they don't count. its a diesel thing!

BTW happy to help you spend money!! 6637 air filter, downpipe (or full 4" exhaust), pyrometer and trans temp gauge if an auto then a TW or DP chip. Oh yeah trans cooler should be up there too if you still have the stocker in there.

turbos all seem fine, with baby-butt smooth compressor wheels.
