Good News...

After many repair attempts(12), rides with engineers, etc, etc. Ford has agreed to replace my 07 with a new Expy. Some may recall all of the braking problems I have had. I filled a lemon claim with BBB 4 months ago. They tried one last time to repair the brakes, replacing all kinds of good stuff. It worked fine for about 3 months, then it started pulling again. Called the BBB up and said I want to continue with arbitration. Two days before the scheduled hearing, Ford came back with the offer to give me an identical 08. Cross my fingers my problems are behind me now!

Not sure if I get to order one. The dealer I bought it from will call me in a couple of weeks. They try to locate a new truck with the same options.

Good luck with the new one. I don't know if the brakes are much better than what you had. I still feel like I have to push like crazy and the pedal feels soft but I have been told twice...thats how they all feel. Oh well. Good Luck!!!!

Picked up the 08 yesterday. The paperwork was a nightmare for the dealer but thats about it. I turned my lemon in with 24,000 miles in 11 months worth of driving. It had the charcoal interior with camel inserts, the new 08 has all camel which will take a bit to get use to. Has the chrome tip my 07 didn't and the rear hatch release is power button style instead of the handle lifting up. Thats the only difference I can see. Oh, there is chrome around the radio button. So far so good.

Good to hear. I would like to know if you start to feel a surge when stopped at a light or stop sing or traffic. The sensation feels like the transmisson is trying to shift. It is a push agains the brakes for a moment and then it subsides. I usually get it to happen twice and then it is gone until I strat moving again. It reminds me of the early 90s BMWs 735s. The line pressure was really high in thetranny so when you let your foot off the brake the thing would take off. The issue disappeared when BMW finally put a V8 in to compete with hte Mercs. Thanks for the help. Good Luck with the new one and I hope you like it.

No surge that I can feel. What difference will I see with the 3.31 vs 3.73?

Better gas mileage with the 3.31 but less off the line power. If you don't tow anything you most likely are not going to missing the 3.73s.

In Addition to better gas Mileage with the 3.31 Rear Axle,

The 3.31 Rear Axle is Rated to Tow 9,200 pounds

The 3.73 Rear Axle is Only Rated to Tow 9,050 pounds

150 Less pounds...

How does that work, 3.73's usually tow more than 3.55, and 3.31.

SemperFi that is not true. New ford releases show that there was a error and 07 shoews that as well. By the way your always on here saying it can to this much or that much. ANY expedition equipped with the towing package (HD) has a Combined weight rating of 15,000 lbs. AXLE RATIO DOES NOT MATTER. Please read the ENTIRE towing guide and owners manual from ford. I'd like to see 3.31s getting better fuel economy, if they did the rated MPG on the trucks would have gone up when ford went from 3.73s to 3.31s. I'm not sure why ford did it but the bottom line is any expedition with the heavy tow package is rated to have a combined weight rating of 15,000 lbs, the truck could be 7,000 and the trailer 8,000 or the truck could be 7900 and the trailer could be 7,100. The rating is just the weight of the vehicle subtracted from 15,000.

How can I tell what ratio I have? Both my 07 and 08 had the tow package.
