I picked up a sending unit from the pull-a-part off of what they had labeled as a '90 Bronco with the intention of using it on my '92 F150 when I swap in a 33 gal fuel tank. It had rubber hoses just pushed onto the ends of the metal lines coming from the tank instead of the braided steel lines with the locking collars and clamps currently on the F150. Did Ford use a low pressure intank pump and external high pressure pump on '90 Broncos? Can I use this sending unit if I swap the '92 pump onto the '90 sending unit? Will the fittings on the high pressure lines on the truck play nice with the sending unit? Advance auto parts (partsamerica.com) actually lists the same pumps for all 90-96 gas trucks. Why then were there rubber hoses on the sending unit I pulled off a '90 Bronco? Might it have been mislabeled?

Those are high pressure lines on that unit. They may have stuck rubber lines on them to drain the tank or something.

 

It sure looked like the tank and the rubber lines had been there while the truck was running. Maybe Murphy was taking a vacation that day. Who knows.

Anyway, I answered my own question: The sending unit is on my truck now and working just fine. Now I just need to take out a loan to fill up that 33 gal tank!
