Ya I don't know what edge would charge but I have heard alot of horror stories on second hand superchips that are sold but not returned to stock. I have a super chip for my truck that needs to be reprogramed It was given to me, I did not buy it. I just bought a new Edge tuner insted of sending it out to superchips, it's now a paper weight...

 

The only reason I could think of an Edge not being returned back to stock is if a thief stole it out of someones truck and was trying to sell it.Anybody that knows how to use an edge would know enough to return it to stock before selling it.

 

^ Or they just set it to witch level they please and then sell the tuner to get there money back.

 

yeah that's why i wouldn't buy one used from anyone i didn't know......

 

I found a used one on ebay for 325. The guy seems to have good feedback so I may try for that one.

 

Use pay pal that way you could probably have a better chance at getting your money back, if something were to happen. I had to do it once ebay didn't care any bit about my problem, but pay pal gave me a full refund, took them 2 months to complete the investigation though. I would e-mail the guy telling him to make shure it's returned to stock and save the e-mail with his reply of him saying yes it will be set to stock, helps later if you file a claim

I save every email for ebay transactions just incase, only happend to me once.

 

The question is how much is he charging for shipping? You can get a new one shipped for under $400 if you call some of the sponsors. If he is charinging anything for shipping I would say it is not worth saving $50 to hope all is well with the used tuner. Just my .02

 

shippings only $15 I need to go check it and make sure its not gone yet.

 

don't think i'd pay 325 + 15 shipping for a used programmer that was 400 new including shipping... imo anyway

 

I agree. I thinkf that you would be better off looking at a new unit with warranty and full tech support.

 

Welp scratch that. I just got a job a o'reillys and Jodys muffler and auto center. So now I am going to get more tools instead. Thanks anyways guys.

 

does anyone know anything about the superchips for the 5.4? i was talking to the local performance shop about the edge and he said that he recommends the superchip CORTEX for that truck. and that that chip can be used in any ford... or what about the hypertech?

 

IMO superchips has nothing on the Edge tuner, Edge has more custom options and I think the edge also has more potential in power gains.

 

oh and i just looked up the price of the superchip and it sells for 499.99.. i was reading on it and it looks like they just came out with it. maybe not i dunno.. the only thing i kind of like about it, is that that chip will go in any ford gas or diesel so if i ever sold my f150, i could put it in my dads 350 or something else but..

 

I can tell you that I looked at the SC from one of the local perf shops around here. I ended up going with the Gryphon because they will give you the custom tunes and I like the built in gauges. I am sure that you can call them and ask if it can be updated for a different truck if needed.
