Yesterday i noticed when i was going into reverse, then went into drive, it would take 3-5 seconds to engage in drive. its a 2006 f250 only 18k miles. can it be a bad issue??
Check your fluid level, if it's low this could happen, also were you parked on a hill? if so you could have run short on fluid. welcome to FTE, alot of great info and great people here.

fluids are all perfect, i bought the car used 2 weeks ago at Greenwood Chevrolet, checked the fluid everything topped off. was gonna take it in and get it checked out but according to everyone i should bother since they probably wont do anything since there arent any codes.
Delay In R And D Could Be Shift Selinoids Picking Up Clutch Pack Material Delaying Engagement, I Would Check External Trany Filter For Clutch Plate Material If So Its Time For A Tranny Flush And Filter Change Dont Forget The One In The Pan Too.. Any Codes? Not To Many Miles On It, It Might Be A Simple Fix.if That Doesn't Help Your Issue, Bad News, It Didnt Clear Mine Up At 74,000mi And It Was Rebuild Time.. Good Luck Hope This Helps
I've never driven one that wasn't a work truck (except mine, which also does it, except its basically my personal loader hauler =D) so maybe that has something to do with it?
It feels much more like a safety than a mechanical problem. I don't do too many 30 mph reverse to drive 180 spins so I guess it doesn't really bother me

I see that you bought this truck from a Chevy place (previous post). Are you sure that they put Mercon SP in it? This is a requirement for proper functioning of the tranny.

I would definitely take a truck back to dealership for warranty repairs if it did what you guys are describing when new.
They should definitely not do that ...... 3 to 5 seconds ?? - terrible!!! I have had a 2005 F250, now have a 2006, also know at least a dozen people w/ them and none have done this.

Reading back that is a bit much. I would say maybe 2-3 seconds is what I've noticed
