2001 Motor in a 1995

I may have access to a crunched up 2001 F350 PS with low miles for a fairly cheap price. I'm wondering what kind of challenges I'll face stuffing a 2001 7.3 in my 1995 F250 PS? I imagine everything will have go over including the computer? Or can I just put the engine in and reap the benefits of a better turbo and injectors? Also, its an F350, can I make the axles work in a 95?

Thanks,
SLL

I think i remember something about the mounts and bellhousing patterns being different, but i wouldnt guarantee it. i know they did change some things between body styles.
good luck!

I would be surprised to find bolt pattern on the bell housing to be different? Its the exact same block is it not? Motor mounts I could see being different though, but that's easy to fix.

The motor will bolt in. A few issues you will face is the SD motor won't have the cam lobe to run the fuel pump so you will need an electric pump fuel system, and you could use all the SD stuff to do that you will just need to mount the pump and wire it. you will also need to clearance the firewall a hair to use the turbo.

Injectors will be split shots but can be run on your current PCM. You won't be able to run the SD PCM as it has some differences. you will also need to switch the engine wiring harness and valve cover gaskets and just not hook up the few extra things the SD engine will have on it.

Then you will also need to do something with the intercooler piping. Either add and intercooler to your truck or get a bypass pipe built to route the turbo outlet to the y-pipe inlet.
