2008 Limited Slip rearend, 3.73's

Anyone who has the 3.73 LS rearend ever hear clunking and clicking coming from the rear when driving around town? I've heard this is normal with some limited slips, but i'd think on a 2008 they'd have figured that out. And do these new Limited slips wear out as quick as the 97-03's? Wondering if it's still the same clutch type design.

I have a 07 XLT 3.73LS with 13,000km. Before I had a 97 XL with 3.73LS with 280,000km. Never heard "clunking and Clicking" sound. Not sure it is the same clutch system or not?

I've got that rear end in my 2008 FX4 - I'm glad to see this post because I thought I was crazy.

I don't hear a clicking noise, but I most definitely notice a "clunk" during in-town driving. I notice it especially when I'm coasting and then apply light throttle. It almost feels like slack in the drive line.

Just found this post that also describes the "clunk": https://www.ford-trucks.com/forums/2...k-problem.html

I hear a "clunk" occasionally going around corners...but that's it.

btw, 06 with 21k miles and the LS is as strong as it was when new.

you need to take it bacl to the dealer and have the clutch packs replaced. Mine was doing the same thing and dealer fixed it NO PROBLEM. Also make sure they put a stabiler in the fluid.
