trouble code 0705

I have a 2004 Escape with 116K miles. Over the weekend I started having a shifting problem. When I put the vehicle into Drive, the engine revs and will creep forward with no real power. If I drop it down to 1 or 2, it will slowly drop into gear and I can then accelerate and then switch to Drive. I checked the fluid and it was low. I added and the stick shows good now, but did not fix the problem. The check engine light has NOT come on.

I put the odometer into test mode and come up with a dtc code of 0705. Research shows that is a "Transmission Range Sensor" code. I plan to take the truck over to the local auto parts store to have them hook it up and see what codes they come up with.

I've looked online and do not see a replacement part for "transmission range sensor", but I do see a "transmission speed sensor". I assume these are relatively easy to replace. Obviously I am trying not to take it into a shop without troubleshooting first.

I'm not sure if this is related, but after adding trans fluid, suddenly the headlights don't work. Parking lights, fog lights, and high beams work fine. My searches on that problem come up with either that simply both bulbs burned out at the same time or possibly that a bad taillight bulb causes the headlights to cut out.

I appreciate any help or insight that anyone can offer.
