How often do you replace yours?

Well I'm losing gas millage, and I guess its time to do a tune up anyway. Im going to do Plugs, cap, rotor, PCV valve. (wires are still good) But my question is How often do you replace your "Oxygen sensor" they say every 30,000 miles. But I have about 220,000 and never changed it. Would it be safe to say i need to change it?
Im getting a slight miss both at idle and when im on the highway
Also what about the EGR stuff. Would any of that be in need of repair. Or should that just last?
Other than that truck runs great. No different than from when i got it at 100,000 miles.

Well, since 220,000 >>> 30,000 I would say it's time Careful with that thing though; douse it with some PB Blaster. That thing will be stuck in there.

Before you tear into the EGR, do the tune-up that you were going to do anyway. Maybe that will get rid of the miss. That will let you diagnose things with a "clean slate." Check the resistance of your plug wires since you won't be replacing them. They should not exceed 5 Kohms per foot.

Sounds like a plan. Is there any tricks to the EGR Replacment, or testing?

To test the egr reach behind it and squeeze it and if the diaphram moves and springs back it is still good.

My plug wires were original-------->1994. Just changed them, but they didn't have a cap/rotor. Also couldn't get plug #2 out.

Use some ant-sieze on the plug threads when you replace them.

To check the EGR valve is leaking or stuck, idle the engine and press on the diaphram like Corner Gas said, usually the engine will start to run badly(may even stall out) the more you press on the diaphram, relese it and the enging should idle back normaly. If no change, then the valve is stuck or burnt, or the passage ways are plugged with carbon. A old trick showed to me, that works really good for EGR problems.
