Question 1st Generation Springs Question

I was thinking about swapping out all 4 front and rear springs on my truck with 1st Gen Lightning springs. I can get a nice set for 150 bucks! I just read that the payload for a 1st Gen Lightning is only 745 pounds. The regular 2wd trucks have either 1410 pounds or 2205 pounds. Is the reason for this more the tires than anything or are the springs really that soft. I thought they were stiffer. I just thought it would be cool if my truck sat a little lower and handled better. If the payload is really reduced that much I probably won't do it. I can't decide. If I don't swap out the springs, I would like to get the the lower traction bar leaf with the rubber snubber on the end that the Lightnings have. Does anyone know where I can get this?
