He wants a muffler for his truck that sounds so deep that it could make the high-pitched whirr of a civic sound deep...

I doubt they're super deep or anything, but I like a deep exhaust note and I'm happy with my Magnaflows.

I believe larger diameter exhaust and larger exhaust tips will make the sound deeper.

I agree. Mabye a Thrush turbo muffler and some bigger pipe after would give you what you need. Worked wonders for the 4 cylinder in my car.

bigger exhaust pipe...bigger tip...the shorter the muffler the better, less restriction the better...which brings me back to my favorites...glasspacks.

I like both Magnaflow and Flowmaster. I don't have any personal experience with Magnaflow, but I like what I've heard.

Exhaust is a funny thing; you pretty much have to experiment untill you find what you like. I'm still working on mine. x_X

Here's mine now; Flowmaster Super 40 with stock cats.

YouTube - Flowmaster Super 40 300I6

Doesn't sound high pitched to me. -shrug-

Dang, I like the sound of that, though it is probably too quite for some people. Myself, I like the tone, and I don't like obnoxiously loud mufflers, especially since I frequently do long distance drives and loud exhausts always wear me out. That and I like to hear my stereo without having to turn it up to ear splitting levels.

I appreciate that, but I should point out what you don't hear. It did sound somewhat ricey at certain RPM's, and because I didn't have a turn down the droning in the cab at 45MPH+ would give me a headache before long.

I messed with mine a bit more and it's smooth now. Looking back I wish I had gone with Magnaflow, but I didn't hear any I really liked on YouTube, save one( it was a 4.0 Mustang). All the 6's with Flowmasters caught my attention.

Now I have only a highflow cat paired with a Flowmaster Super 40 w/ turndown. So if you're considering GOING WITH FLOWMASTER, look into Magnaflow first.

Well, the recording doesn't always capture everything. It sounded good in the clip though. A 50 series would have probably been better based on what you described.
