Oh my god, I just looked a Mooch's thread and cannot believe how similar we are in our install. I built the same amp rack as he used the first time except I onlt put it under the two seats. I used Dynamat extreme to cover the vent hole and then I used fat mat over that. I cannot believe the difference in the interior noise level.

I could have saved you the trouble and would have sent you the amp racks I threw away.

Seriously, nice work, looks good!

Fat Diesel is gaining momentum as a positive member of FTE.
Sweet ! I'm going to put a new carpet in my 99. What do you mean by covering the vent with the DE and then Fat Mat over that? Which vent? Is Fat Mat the same type of thing as the dynamat?

Fat Mat is the same as DE. I had both. There is a vent that has to be removed you will see it in my pics I have posted. It sticks out too far for the box so you have to remove it. Some people install it backwards but it is better to remove and cover the hole.

It did, the speed wizard is awesome. I blew my head gaskets a week after the stereo build and they (ford service dept) tried to blame an ABS light after the cab was removed and reinstalled on my speed wizard. No joy, they finally found the problem was a loose wire in the ABS module from the cab removal process.

Typical point the finger type philosophy, the speed wizard cannot generate an abs light - its AFTER the abs module... silly ford stealer ships

glad to hear all is well

When you say remove the cab, Are you talking the cab of the truck to do head work?

That just makes me sick to my stomach to think about what I would have to do to get the truck ready for that
