Question 97 F250, Light Duty, 5.4 problem

I have a 97 F250, Light Duty, with a 5.4, recently while driving it, no load, such as trying to run 30 mph through town, or just cruising along at 55 mph, it has a miss fire, surge, chug, or bucking, but under no load sitiuations only, runs fine under a load, or at idle, or coasting. You can let off of the throttle, or push the throttle down a little and make the truck work, and the above symptoms are gone. No check engine light. Help Please!

Standard misfire problem under load. Bad COP.

Advanced SEARCH keyword "misfire" and look for posts by either myself or jbrew.

Thanks for the information, I did go ahead a do the Advanced Search, and read all about it, interesting reading.

.

.
Tonight, I drove it to the next town over, it did the usual stutter, misfire, crap, and then it misfired at a stop, at a traffic light, and 3 minutes later the check engine light came on, I have a hand held code scanner, so I checked the code, hoping for a P030x code, to tell me which cop it was, nope, I got a P0401 code (Exhaust Gas Recirculation Flow Insufficient Detected) what ever that means? Egr valve stuck open?

Nah, probably either clogged EGR ports or a bad DPFE sensor.

Again, that advanced SEARCH is going to be your best tool.

Thanks Steve, I did the advanced search, the other day, about the cop, my biggest problem is lack of a decent internet connection makes it real tough to do much searching at 14.4k.

Dang, that has to be painful... As much as I hate Wildblue, it's still better than 14.4K (most of the time).
