blakeusa is starting off with a positive reputation.
Need to locate fuseable links 77 F150

77 F150

Need some help please. Running out of ideas.

No power to the lights or ignition switch. Ran a tester to the ignition switch terminals and I have no power to any connection to the ignition switch.

Battery & connectors are good and will crank if the solonoid is jumped.

All ran fine before son reversed jumper cables.

Would like a diagram or description of where I could find the fusable links that bring power to the ignition switch and or that that controls the start wire.

I found two off the solonoid/relay- I tested the one 20 gauge fusable link going from the positive battery solonoid connection (to the Alt battery) and that is OK-in fact just replaced. The second one white 5 gage seems to go to the electric choke but seems ok.

System has new alt, solonoid, battery and ground.

Could there be a short/problem with the duraspark control module that would keep any power running throught the system.

Any ideas would be appreciated. Good ideas that is!

Thanks

It does sound like you still have a fusible link that is burnt out. They are all under the hood, and over in the solenoid area. You should have a wire going to the solenoid + battery connection that feeds the whole truck. This may have been the same wire that went to the alternator. They configured it a little different through the years. Most years, this was a yellow wire. I would follow the wire(s) from the solenoid + connection through the harness. You should come to a splice, and then after that find more fusible links. The alternator, headlights, and ignition switch/fuse box power all tie into this hot wire going to the solenoid + and they usually all have their own fusible links after the splice.

You should then have a main wire going through the firewall, and then it splits and one side feeds the ignition switch, and the other feeds the fuse box.
