'05 F150 Triton V8 Tans Fault Message
Hey guys
Have read alot on this forum, alot of good info here. I have an 05 F150 with 33,570 miles. Today the "Trans Fault" message came on the display, OD light started blinking, engine light came on. Truck seemed to run OK but I didnt drive it after this happened. I have already been through the bad injectors, had those and plugs replaced under warranty, within days, catalytic converter went out probably as a result of the injector failure, it too was replaced under warranty. Now within 2k miles this comes up. I dont pull anything, maybe haul 10-20 bales of hay in the bed once every couple of months, drive it maybe 7 times a month. Anyone else have similar problems? I am afraid if the transmission is going to crap out that it will do it just after warranty is up. I would greatly appreciate any feedback if someone has had similar experiences. Thanks! Dennis

I had this happen to me. The message center starting flashing "Trans Fault"..."O/D off"...my Edge box started going nuts flashing screens at me...the check engine lamp, the powertrain-failure lamp (the wrench) came on, and my ABS lamp came on...and the truck went into "limp" mode where I couldnt drive over 35mph. When this happened, the truck was still drivable, but the trans was shot. I was 2 weeks out of warranty and had to pay $2900 for a new Ford trans. If you're under warranty yet....GET IT LOOKED AT FAST!!

Problem resolved
Well it seems that my 05 was just out of warranty on time rather than miles. However, the dealer found a broken wire going to one of the rear wheel sensors that caused the problem, most likely a mouse or rodent problem. I live in a rural area and have had 3 other episodes on previous trucks with damage to wiring because of field mice. I am just glad it was not the transmission. Still it cost $101 to diagnose and repair the problem. Thanks to those that replied.
