I usually mount my contoller in the middle under the dash. But in this truck has a center console. Could you please give some ideas where you mounted your brake controller. Thanks
I originallly mounted mine in the same spot in both my explorer and my expedition, but before my cross country drive towing a 7K trailer, I decided to move it to the little tray under the stereo. Boy am I glad I did!!! I was on a road that was 55mph, but had stoplights every couple of miles. The roads were wet, and I was coming down a hill when the light turned yellow!! I was maybe 50 yards away, too far to push through the light, but close enough for me to worry. I ended up using the "chicken" switch on the controller and a my truck brakes, not knowing how the anti-lock brakes take a trailer into consideration. If you had to do that with the controller mounted down at the bottom left, it would not be safe or practical, nor convenient for a quick response. If the inconvenience of losing an inch off the pretty much unusable tray saves you from a jack knife or hitting another vehicle, thats well worth it in my opinion. I didn't fully slide the lever, just to about 60% where I could feel the trailer brakes significantly more than the truck brakes. Better to let the trailer slide than to have it start pushing the truck out of control.
