'87 and up F250/F350s. Don't get one from a big block or diesel truck.

Yup..been there. Good info. I agree with staying with medium valve sizes & working with velocity. Starting cruising Ebay looking for some GT40P heads. ZF trany is going to be a challenge.

Affirmative.

Check carpart.com for a ZF, some rebuilts and plenty of cores you could take to a tranny shop you trust. There are remanufactured ones on eBay for ~$1,100.

Oh, rumor has it the GT-40P heads have a weird plug angle that makes finding headers troublesome. Something to keep in mind...

Yes, the regular GT40 is a better option, the P version will require some exhaust header modification/fabricaion skills.

Bummer , some nice GT40P heads on Ebay.

Found a ZF tranny....in my pole barn !! Attached to a 300 in a '91 F250 . Truck belonged to my son who passed away 2 years ago in a boating accident. Was going to restore (rusty) the truck for his kids ,my grandkids. Zac is 5...., so that would give me about 10 years to put the trany back if i where to ................hmmmm.

Appears the GT40 heads are harder to find. Maybe 351W heads would be more economical . Can get a set locally. Found 351W EFI intake on Ebay reasonable.

BTW, GT40 heads won't help this truck tow any better unless you get 4.10 or 4.56 gears and a 2500rpm stall converter. The 302 is pretty gutless down low and better flowing heads just make that problem worse. The EFI 351 used the exact same heads, and you can't use a 351 intake on a 302, it won't fit. Besides.. the stock 302 truck intake is more than adequate, maybe a bit too big, swap to a Mustang intake for better low rpm(under 4500rpm) power.
