'73, and that was a awesome race.

I never seen a race horse dominate a race like Secretariat did at that race.

Wish I was there.

Secretariat is widening now. He is moving like a tremendous machine!

The race call gives me goose bumps everytime I hear it.

YouTube - Secretariat Belmont Stakes 73' & extended post race coverage

I met his owner, Penny Chenery, and Ron Turcotte four years ago at the unveiling of the Secretariat memorial statue at the Kentucky Horse Park.

I was there.

In front of the TV set.

Same here; it still gives me goose bumps every time I see it.

Time to check out that vid, for some goose bumps.

Big Brown. My neighbor watched him win in Fla and said he looked like he still had a couple of gears to go at the finish. I hope he is a sign of things to come and a shift in training. Waiting until three is so much easier on these young colt's knees whether it's race training or just for starting a trail mount.

He's been impressive, no doubt about it. The only thing that would keep me off of him is that outside post position. Pretty tough to win from out there.

It's really a pretty open field other than three or four horses.

That would be a sweet payoff - The advantage you would have is that you can get track odds at a sports book. Off Track Betting in California is a separate Mutuel pool, so local horses tend to pay less than they would at the track in Kentucky. I happened to be in Vegas for the Derby in 87 when Ferdinand won. Paid great money @ the sports book - almost twice as much as was paid by OTB in California. Because of the Shoemaker/Whittingham local connection, he was bet down.

Bob Black Jack is my longshot special.

I would bet on Carl's dog, Sassy, if she was in the running.

Common sense tells me to pick Big Brown, but I will take Eight Belles as a long shot.

It really is - maybe Churchill will switch to a synthetic surface to help eliminate this type of horrific scene.
