front drive shaft

How much slack is normal for the front drive shaft? My 04 seems to have about a third of a turn slack.

120 degrees? Ouch. From where to where? Just inside the spline of the front drive shaft itself?

I haven't checked out my '07 to know exactly, but I would expect there is only a few thousandths worth of slack between any of the components that wouldn't begin to produce 120 degrees of rotation.

Did you feel it in 2wd or with the truck in 4wd?

There is a lot of slack when in 2wd (doesn't let it turn freely like my 79 does in 2wd though), but I don't remember if there was any slack when in 4wd...shouldn't be.

I feel alot of slack when I slow down and then hit the gas before coming to a complete stop. I climbed under the truck on flat ground with it in 2 wheel drive and turned off. The front drive shaft from the transfer case to the diff has alot of turn in it. There is some play down at the axles but most of the slop is between the transfer case and diff. I had it in for the cam phaser and the dealer said they couldn't find any slack!

When in 2wd, the front is disengaged, so there is suposed to be slack.
When in 4wd, you shouldn't have much of any slack.
