What problems will I have? The ranger had a 2.9. Will the tranny bolt up?

Some things are cooler than decent fuel mileage.

Cause the 2.9 is dead, and the 3.0 runs fine but the reast of the car is junk. Its just to keep the truck runnin. Itl get a 302 before long.

sell the 3.0 and get the 302. just because you have the motor doesnt make it practicle. to much work involved just to tear it all out for a 5.0 swap later you know.

I am in the same position with a dead 2.9 in an 88 ranger and access to an almost free 3.0 from a Taurus. I think the transmission will have to be changed but not sure? Will it cost me more to do the swap than to buy a good 2.9 or maybe 4.0ohv, heck if a 2.3 will work I would consider that, but just wonder if the cost is too much to even worry about trying the 3.0. Any advice would be appreciated.
