Thumbs up Blown Fuse #17 97 f250 Gas

Hello, Im new to this forum but I love it. I have a recently purchased 97 f250 that I am working the bugs out of. The fuse for the volt gauge and temp gauge seems to blow every other day or so. The only short term solution is to up the gauge and that only lasts a day or so longer. Alt. and battery are good and hold a charge. Anyone have an idea? Is it a voltage regulator? Truck sat idle for a while before I purchased it and it could be a corrosion issue in some connector? Thanks

Which engine? F250 LD or F250HD (they have different wiring circuits)?

Might also have been a critter chewing on wires....

Hmm...

Pull the steering wheel shrouds and inspect the harness where it comes out of the shifter shaft. Look for frayed wires that might be intermittently shorting to ground.
