Lost pcv valve

I have a 2003 Expedition with an aluminum block. The motor blew out and was replaced about a year ago. Recently the truck started to stall at idle after warm-up. I took it to the shop and they say it is the pcv valve. But they cannot find the correct replacement as they lost or tossed the original a year ago and had it "rigged to get by". The Ford dealership in town did not carry the correct one as the only description I have is that it "threads in". Is there any place I can look to find out what the original set-up was and parts I need to fix this?

I don't know of any that thread in. It is also important to note that only the passenger side gets a PCV valve, the D. side is just plumbed into the intake. IIRC the PCV valves are pretty universal for the modulars no matter what vehicle. Any auto parts store carries them for a few dollars.

OOps. I forgot to state that it is a 4.6L size engine. From what I have researched online, the valve has a little notch to twist in instead of the smooth can design that slides into a grommet. I am not sure if it has a "y" vacuum line or not. I have seen four different types of pcv valves listed for this model year.

It is 1/2 way back the passengerside valve cover and usually has 1 Hose to it.
When I buy an aftermarket PCV valve for my 88 5.0 Mustang, I usually have to remove the plastic double vacuum tree from it since I only have one hose that fits it direct.
