khensley is starting off with a positive reputation.
New (old?) convert.....

My first SD was an early 02 with the V10. What a great rig, put 60K on in 3 years. Never a problem with it, averaged around 12mpg (did a lot of freeway miles).

Then in late 04, I allowed my buddies and the hype to convince me to switch to diesel. Of course, this was around the time that diesel started it's climb to be more pricy than regular gas! I did feel more manly going down the road, making lots of noise, and stinking up parking lots .

That 04 went back to Ford in less than a year, after 2 blown turbos, numerous computer flash issues, and a good dealership that went to bat for me time and again. Replaced with an 05...turbo replaced in the first 5K miles. As of today, after 50K miles, that was the only problem, except for the fact that mileage has fallen regularly, down to a 13mpg average, when two friends with the same rigs (350 CC 4x4) average 16-17mpg on the exact same drive. Back to dealer several times, both times it was "performance within specs" and "no warranty on mileage".

So, my new 350 CC 4x4 Lariat.........V10..........is arriving today and I'll pick it up tomorrow. I'm happy to say I was wrong almost 4 years ago. I'll miss the complete grunt of stump-pulling power, but I'll get over it.

Almost home!!
