anti lock light on 96 F-150 2wd

The dash light came on about a year ago. I replaced the differential sensor and that had no effect. I removed the battery for a week while I painted the truck and afterward the light didn't come back on... About half a year later it came on for no particular reason.. A couple of times it has stayed off for a day. I tried removing battery again and has had no effect. Any ideas?

thanks

Mitch

under right side of the dash you will find a single wire connector, blk on one side and blk with org on the other. koeo, dissconnect plug and momentarily ground out blk/org wire. abs lamp will blink codes. To clear, turn off key. turn back on and plug back in.

thanks heard this before but didn't realize there was an easily acccessable connector (thought I would have to pierce the wire's insulation with a needle and ground it). I will look for the connector and read the code.

BTW, I cleaned the contacts under the master cylinder and at the hydraulic valve on the frame under the right fender with no change in symptom.

thanks
