Reconnecting Trac Bar ??

I just installed the mini pac leveling spring pacs on my 04 F350 and now cannot hook my track bar back up. It is about 1/2" from being able to put the bolt back in. After more reading last night I figure I should order the adjustable trac bar but would like to get the truck back on the road for the weekend. Any suggestion on getting it moved over the last half inch ??

Thanks
Mike

I've been driving without mine for the last month. The steering isn't as precise, but it should be fine.

I had an adjustable bar made, and would highly recommend it. Some guys use comealongs and stuff to move the springs around but I personally feel that is a bad idea.

When I added a leaf to mine to bring it up to 6000#(same as snow plow prep) I had the same problem, it was just a little bit off. I used ratchet straps to bring it into alignment and have had no problems over a year later. If you go any higher then adjustable trac bar is the way to go but if you want it back on the road now then crank it into place and bolt it down. You can always order the adjustable trac bar and install it once it arrives...

You're driving with the trackbar disconnected/removed??

either ratchet strap as mentioned, or turn the wheel, get under it, have someone else turn the wheels the other way.. this will pull the axle to the drivers side and you should be able to get the bolt started into the hole.. thats how i got mine in.

can't remember off the top of my head which way we turned the wheels first..

I think that I turned my wheel to the left and it lined up, takes two people to do it. Just turn it to lock may have to wiggle it a bit just make sure you can both yell loud since you will pry have to have the engine running or jack it up and leave the engine off (dont know why i just thought of that 3 months later would have saved alot of yelling...LOL) Good luck..

Yep, either have someone turn the wheel or use a strap.

Wow, less than 5 minutes and the bolt was in and we were out for a test drive. I can see why you need two people though. Thanks a ton to everyone that posted for their help.

Did you not get a new bracket with your kit?

Was. The track bar helps with crossover steering to reduce/eliminate bump steer.

Years ago... trucks didn't have track bars in the front. They were for cars!
