Signal mirrors

My 97 Expedition signal mirrors were replaced by me and I broke the Pass side motor. I have access to cheap 2000/2001 signal mirrors with the signal part on the outside of the mirror.
Will these mirrors just bolt into place with out and splicing of wires?
Basically plug and play?
Does the mirror cap come off or do I need to get that painted?
This is something I've been wanting to do for a while.
Thanks Paul

I think you posted in the wrong EXPY section. This one is for 2007 and newer. Someone here may know though so keep checking.

OK, then, but what about the '07s and '08s?

Can the lights be fitted into the mirrors and just plug in?

The mirrors already have the blinkers intergrated in the unit.

No blinkers in my mirrors (the reason I asked about the '07s). Where should they be?

The Limited models may come with it, but my lowly XLT has the blanks, but no lights, I wonder if it is prewired?

I guess we have to ask the question directly:

Are the '07 XLTs wired for the missing below the mirror signal lights?

How can we check? Does that blank panel just pop off?

Yes the black plate does 'pop' off, at least it easily did for my wife when she ran into the garage door! I belive it's held on w/ 3 pressure tabs. Regarding it be prewired, I don't think so. If I recall when when looking at the busted mirror and had a clean look into the innards, there was no loose wires. The only wires went directly to the motor which controlled the mirror. Now it's quite possible that if you get a mirror from junkyard (or from others) that is already wired w/ the blinker, that it may plug directly into the connector behind the door panel. By the way, I've got an XLT
