Cold but not Cold Enough

Hello All,

I have a 92 EB Bronco with the 5.8. Since another summer is closing in here in Texas I was wanting to get my AC right. On normal AC It does blow cold air, just not hard enough or cold enough to help on the hottest days. Anything over 95 it is cooler to use the 2/60 air. Also, when I try to use MAX air it seems to work for about 20-30 seconds then nothing. No air at all.

Philmo.

How many miles on this thing, what are you running for head pressure. Usally a/c that craps out in high ambients is condenser airflow problems,(fan clutch). when on max setting, where does the air go in 20-30 seconds? does the fan stop running, or come out the defrost vents?

projectSHO89 is gaining momentum as a positive member of FTE.projectSHO89 is gaining momentum as a positive member of FTE.
Also, check for a dirty evaporator core, dirty condenser, weak fan clutch, etc....

The only difference between MAX and normal A/C is the recirculation door. That should have little affect on airflow although in MAX, the flow is generally stronger.

it would also help to have some outside temp reading and vent temp readings. Does it cool better when you get on the hiway? did it slowly get worse? or was it just all the sudden it stopped cooling?

as for it totally stopping on Max A/c, can you hear the blower still running or does it shut off the blower?

A little more info will help us.
