I was just wondering if any one knew if they could even fit a 6.4 in a E-350/450 Van
Thanks
Nick
Take a look at a 6 liter van, and you will see there is no way they will get the 6.4 in there. I am hoping that the next generation of engines (4.4L, 6.7L) are available in the E series. Assuming they get good fuel economy of course.
And perhaps the E-Series van will get a makeover with 2007 emission and newer diesel engine fitment in mind.

I'm doing my part to reduce food imports, control rising food costs and help feed the children, my trucks run on 100% petroleum diesel. What are you doing?
One question I've always had is for the current E-series line using the 6.0, did they modify a DPF for it or is it still puffin' smoke?

I'm guessin' it's probably the same old 6.0 that we're all familiar with. Otherwise why develop a whole new engine if they could just modify the 6.0 to be EPA07 compliant.

They do not have a dpf. I couldn't get a straight answer on this when I asked, but they are either left over engines from before the new regulations, or Ford pays a fine for every 6 liter they sell now. Either way, the price is down right stupid ($7,000+), so you would have to really want a diesel in a van to buy one.

International needed to "redo" their engines for 2010 and beyond. The V8 was chosen first as it also needed an image make over. The 6.0 was capable of meeting 2007 emissions with DPF and modifications but with the modifications, a 2007 compliant 6.0 would not likley have worked out in the E-Series either.
