Those swap parts are expensive by MY standards.
I would go with the '94-'98.5 donor, no (or less) electronics to wory about.
The intercooled ('91.5-'93) are even simpler and lighter (I.P. is not nearly as big or heavy, but also not as good), cheaper donor, and the Bosch rotory I.P. is "tunable" with out any extra parts.
If your goal is BIG power the Bosch P7100 equipped '94-'98.5 is the way to go.
Minus the engine, I'm figuring about 3K total for the swap, including driveline mods and any misc extras that come along.
My goal isn't to make huge power numbers. I want something a little different. And I want to be able to run with some of the late model trucks. I'm tired of getting outpulled by newer trucks with twice the weight behind them. I've given a lot of thought to getting rid of my truck and getting something new(er). But I like my crewcab and I know what is wrong with it and all of its idiosyncrisies.
I did a Cummins swap into a 460 truck. Being 2wd it made things much easier. I just used the Dodge trans because I couldn't justify the cost of the adapter plate, and made my own motor mounts. Realistically, it wasn't all that bad, the motor mounts were the hardest part. The VE pump works fine for my needs, don't need insane power, just need enough to drag a few trailers down the road reliably.
To swap from a 460 gas to an IDI wouldn't be all that easy either, as there is a few things that have to change. The motor mounts for the 460 have to be gotten off the frame, the rad support is wrong and would need changed to get the bigger radiator on it. The trans from the gas motor won't work either, you will need it as well. Otherwise, it is all bolt up.

THERE IS NO QUESTION THE CUMMINS IS WAY HARDER TO SWAP IN- it's not even close, just in case I wasn't clear about that. I just think there is a good chance you'll never have to take it back out.
I should be picking up the '94 this weekend, the owner is finally back from Wisconsin. I FULLY EXPECT it will treat me just fine! Got my fingers crossed that it's as good as it looks. If I can figure it out with my almost non-existant computer abilities I'll post some pictures when I pick it up.
GREAT!!! i think you will be satisfied, i am. best of luck to you, just check the turbo, it would suck if you drove it home and you found out it was bad.
