Wink Truck cap for 2008 F150 with 6.5' bed

I have a 2008 F150 with a 6.5' bed and am considering a truck cap of some sort mainly for outings such as camping, family trips, etc... I don't want to spend a lot of $ on something ideally but also want something that looks decent. I am considering either a soft cap (such as softopper, etc...) or perhaps a used cap. Any thoughts???

Also wondering if anyone can tell me if a cap from the previous series F150s (1999-2003) will fit the current series (2004-2008), box sizes being the same length of course?

I got mine from ebay the guy lived down the street. I paid $500 it matched my color so I didn't need to get it painted. He also said that it would fit older F150's I think he said 98 and up.

you have a 2008 and you want to put something on there that looks good!! I would shy you away from buying used. I mean you have a brand new truck.

I just went thru this. I ended up buying a century "royal" cap. Seems to be the best for the price that i could find. My choices where ARE, Leer and Century. Century to me looked great. I didn't get it yet, but saw them in person on the same truck. Total cost installed with all the options was $1500

I bought an locking hard cover from Undercover. It is removable and only weighs 45lbs. See website address in my signature. It was only about $650.

Just put a Leer QX 100 on my 2008 XLT short bed and it looks great! Fit and finish is good, color match is perfect. The vehicle looks like an SUV now. I just sold my "99 F 250 SD diesel which had a Century cap. The Century was a very good cap, my only complaint was that it did not appear to flow exactly straight back from the cab following the vehicle lines and therefore always sort of looked like a...cap. The Leer looks as though it was a factory option.

I had a Softopper on my 04 with the 6.5' bed. Talk about versatile! I would recommend one to anyone. In fact, I still have it even after I sold my truck. I'm just waiting for another truck to put it on.

I had a Leer on a Ford Ranger, for what it's worth. POS hardware broke 2 weeks after installing it.

I just put an ARE on mine for about 1600 bucks. It would have been cheaper, but I upgraded the windows for a sleeker look. The color match is great - I couldn't be happier with it. This is the only photo I have for now:

I put a Leer XL100 on my last 2007 Screw. Nice, but expensive... about $1,600. I'll try to attach a photo below. For the 2008 KR I ordered, I am thinking about a fiberglass lid. The wife thinks caps look like "grandpa".

Here goes:
