There are no parts at this time. The temporary fix is for the dealer to disable it.

I've heard mid-summer before they have a permanent fix.

I think they are trickling in to some dealerships already. I have a buddy working in parts at a dealership back east and he said they just received 900 of the fixes.

I checked my local dealerships (i'm on the west coast) and they didn't have any yet, but they hoped to within a month or two, like Ken stated.

I just had mine done yesterday on my Lightning here in Ohio. Takes no more than a couples minutes to install, takes longer to do the paperwork.

Is this the same recall they've been doing for a few years? If so it seems strange that they would be out of parts.

I just got mine done last summer and it was a PITA. I made an appointment with my friendly (usually) Ford dealer for 10 am on a Saturday and they said they would put it on right in the service bay in about 10-15 minutes. Sounded good to me. When I got there he wanted me to leave it with him for the day because the repair took a couple of hours and he strongly encouraged me to have someone pick me up and not stay in the waiting room. BS, it sounded like he wanted some time to test drive my truck. I suggested that he just give me the part and I'd install it myself. His reply was "We could only do that if you were a certified master tech.", which I'm sure he thought would get him off the hook. Then I pulled out my certified master tech ID card and he begrudgingly got me the part, I installed it in about 20 seconds, and was on my way. It was still under 15 minutes, and I would have preferred to insall the part myself anyway, but there was no need for them to make a big production out of it.

Its the same underlying recall, but extended to more years and models. Apparently, the fix may not be the same, since the recall notice (at the time, a couple months back) said there was currently no fix and the cruise needed to be disabled until there was.

Yea sounded like someone wanted to play around with your vehicle. They installed mine with me watching right beside it in the drive up service bay area.

ALL PARTS ARE NOW AVAILABLE TO DO RECALL 05S28

I have the parts to fit every vehicle that this recall pertains too, not sure about other dealers but you should call to confirm.

Ed

Call dealerships around your area and ask....some of them may have the part you need.

Tim there's another post by the same guy in the "Spark Plug Ejection" thread in this same forum.

I reported that one, as well as the one in this thread, a little bit ago.
