What are you calling a snorkel? Where would it go on the truck?

Dude, don't waste your time unless you have a Range Rover and are going in the swamps up to your windshield.

IMO: They are stupid.

Your truck is going to die on you WAY before you would ever reach the height of any snorkel.

A snorkle to let the carb breath under water.

It's best to cut a hole in the firewall and run a hose from the air cleaner into the cab. You have a snorkel, and it doesn't look stupid being outside the cab.

Uncle stosh: i dont think the point of a snorkle is so that the carb can be submerged, its so that water being spashed at the
aircleaner isnt being pulled in. I think its usefull on any mud trucks

An enclosed air cleaner also works quite well....

I wonder what would make the best hose ? ... Dryer vent? ... Flexible exhaust? ... PVC? ...

It's all moot unless you have a diesel. Water will get to the dizzy before the carb. Thought of this myself, and that's the reason I never did it.

the best hose is heat riser hose. U can get it at autoparts stores. its meant to go between the the heat riser on the exhaust to the opening in the aircleaner

Have you tried a Jeep forum? Those guys add snorkels quite often. They probably have a solution to the distributor problem also. There's a few of those Saturday morning off-road shows that have had video of those things driving up to their windshields in water.

You are going to need a lot of other things first before you have to worry about a snorkel. Things like extended axle vents, electric fan, sealing the distributor, etc.

Or, maybe you just want to look "cool" with a big tube running up the side of your A pillar.........

F250 6.9l IDI ... ... What if you ran it thru and down the inside of the firewall, along the floorboard and under the seat? ... Usually some room under there if you wanted to put a filter on the end of the hose ... Stubbing it out under the dash might be better but there is usually not much room there ...
