subs in a regular cab

i got a 94 f150 regular cab and i was looking to get a different sub in it

i have 1 kenwood 10 but its too deep to fit back there without hitting the back of the seat

i wanna get a shallow sub but im not sure which one

i also listen to alot of metal and rap so im not sure what would sound better a 10 or a 12

There are a couple of shallow mount woofers that you can choose from. Rockford fosgate has there own line, pionner has there own line, and so does kicker. I personally running a 12" pioneer shallow mount. I listen to everything from country, to rock, Rap, and this gets the job done. It is also only 3.25" deep, so its not going to take up that much room. I've hear the kicker cvt, and they are nice sounding, just didnt want to pay 2 bills for them. I have no expericnce with the RF's so you might want to go look around to find one. Here is a vid of my pioneer in action:

I had an 02 RegCab F150 and i fit two 10" JL Audio W1's. They sounded great. Made the box for them.

Now, im about 6'4'' so i had to have the seat back as far as it would go with the subs (which means they were touching the seat). But i didn't mind. You said were didn't want them touching the seat. So, my friend drives a little s10 and he got the same subs as me. His box is half the size of mine...which i would assume would fit in your truck without touching the seat. But i dont know how you feel about making a box...

With all the subwoofers i have heard or owned, the JL's sound the best...and without a good amp the subs are useless. Long story short...I would reccomend looking into JL Audio Subwoofers.

Final system (Beware! it's a mutt system!):
2007 Ford F250 Regular cab.
Clarion DXZ385USB
Pioneer TS-A6872R 6x8's in the doors
Alpine SPS-507 5x7's in the rear pillar.
Rockford Fosgate Power 1500bd
For the subs. (I had it laying around.)
JL Audio 300/4v2 amp for the mids and tweets.
2 x JL Audio TW13W5

This system pounds hard enough to make the rear view mirror point down.
I still haven't balanced the mids with the SPL meter yet, but it sounds fairly good as is.
