9' rear shock question

This question was posted on "steering and suspension" 12 hours ago with no response.
I have installed a 9" rear end in an f1. Does any one have pictures and / or advice about fabricating and location of rear shock mounts.

I'm about to do this myself and posted a while back. You have 2 choices really, get a set of F2 leaf spring pads which support a 3" axle or weld some new shock mounts to the axle itself. I'm going with the later and bought a set of weld on mounts for about $25. Sorry no pictures yet as I haven't started.

I don't have any pics of it but I had to weld on a seet of shock mounts to my 9". No big deal.

Here's the process I used. I hung the shock on the upper shock mounts, bolted teh lower weld on shock mounts to the shocks, lined them up on the axle so they weren't binding and then tacked them in place. I did measure side to side to make sure I had both sides in the same place. After that, I finished welding them, gave them a spot of paint and bolted it all together.

To add just a little, If you have already chosen your shock,.find the center..compress it..measure ,then extend it..measure again, then find the 'center" that should just about be your install position, with the truck at ride HT. ...what for brakeline interference, exhaust.
If you can incorporate the shockmount with the rear axle /springmount, you might be able to kill two birds with one stone...Good Luck!

Hi,

Take a look at this thread. It's about the same as what you are asking. I posted some pics of how I did mine on it. If they don't show up, let me know and I'll down load them again.

Mine is a 9 3/8" out of a big mid 60s Ford car if it looks a little weird, but is one of the 9" family
