Question Ignition module or "brain box" wires

Hey all--Have had some problems with my truck getting spark. So, I went ahead and changed the coil with a buddy. When attempting to start, he said that the spark was only coming intermitently, so suggested that it's probably the "brain box", or ignition module. He said to go ahead an take it off, and buy a new one. Well, I took it off the top of the wheel well, but here;s my problem. I see 2 clusters of wires that go to the module, but have no idea how to pull them apart. The plastic housings seem to have tabs on them, but don't seem to budge when I press down on them. The wires go out of the plastic housings and into a 'gel' like substance under the module. I don't think I should cut the wires obviously, but don't know how to seperate the wires. Anyone here help me? thanks

Those plastic connections will pull apart. Sometimes it take some force. Don't push down on those tabs on the sides. If you look at those tabs closely, you'll see a slot with a small plastic pin peakking up into the slot. You'll also notice one end of the piece that contains the slot isn't conected to the body of the connector. Use a small screwdriver and very gently pry up on that end....just enough force to move it a little, but don't bend it. That will help loosen the connection. Then pull them straight apart. Do not cut the wires. Just be patient.
