302 Timing and Firing Order

I just bought a long block to put in my '71 Sport Custom. It supposedly has an "H.O." Mustang cam in it. The mechanic said to use the 351 firing order to get it to run. What is the ignition timing on it and does anyone know the specs on the cam that should be in it and has anyone had experience setting up a similar engine?

Thanks,

James

If you are using a carb, treat it like any other small block Ford, timing anywhere from 8 btdc to 14 btdc. Make sure you use the flywheel that came with the engine or a late model flywheel to match the engine. Approx 1982 and later used different balance flywheels/flexplates.
