Shorty Headers

I was wondering if there are any perks or drawbacks from adding shorty headers to my 351W Bronco.

Shorty Headers

The perks are, you'll increase your 351's horsepower&torque, and the 351's exhaust note will sound better. One drawback with headers is they are prone to the occasional exhaust leak, and require retightening the header bolts every so often.Sometimes it's also a good idea to replace the header gaskets, too. They wear out from heat.If you go with headers, make sure to route ignition wires away from direct contact with them.

Shorty Headers

Any recommendations as to the best fit, clearance, price, performance gains, etc? I'd like to use a set of shorties on my 64 with the 351W.

Shorty Headers

Don't know how they'd fit/work for a 351 in a '64 model,but F.R.P.P. offers a set of 5.8L(351) shorty headers(#M-9430-T58) that works for '90-'96 trucks/vans/Broncos&'93-'95 Lightnings.You might give them a call,or visit their website for more info.You might also check out JBA's website.I think they also offer "shorty"headers for the 351W engines.Hope this helps.Good luck.
