What year 302 do I have?

I got this 302 from a friend of mine that had it in a '83 F-150. He got the truck from a priest that lives in southern Mn. The priest said that the motor came from a an old police car, the motor was bought at a police auction, and he had it dropped into his truck. My friend bought the truck from the priest, and drove it for 3 months until the AOD tranny gave up. He parked the truck, and I bought a '81 F-150 from him that had a bad 300-6cyl in it. He gave me the motor, and I dropped it into my '81 with a 3 speed manual on the floor. That 302 has a lot of power for just being a 2bbl! I drove it for a year, then got rid of the '81 but kept the 302, and had my friend re-build the bottom end. He found out that the crank had been turned down .010, but he didn't pull the heads to see if it were bored out. This 302 has a 2 piece rear seal, but has a heavier balance (50 oz.) flywheel, and damper. I'm thinking it's a pre-82 motor, but it has a heavier balance like a later one.
Can anyone help me determine what year my 302 is?

Thanks,

Taz

The only way to tell for sure is to get the casting number. On the 302 i think it is below the right cylinder bank toward the back of the engine. To the left of the motor mount. Post those numbers and i'm sure we can help you.
