Where did the oil go?

I noticed that if my truck has not been started for a few days, it will take awhile to build oil pressure, maybe three seconds. So, while changing my oil filter I find all the oil has drained out of the oil filter casing. Is this normal? That explains the time it takes to build oil pressure…

Yep...

I've checked several times. Same thing, all the oil drains out of the casing.

brickie is gaining momentum as a positive member of FTE.
When you lift the filter the oil should drain into the crank case.
