351HO vs. non-HO. What's the diff?

What's the difference between the 351HO and the non-HO? I've heard different things from different people...

Okay,I'll see if I can explain the different 351Ws.The 351 came out in 1969.With a 2 bbl. it was rated at 250bhp.The 4 bbl. version was rated at 290bhp.Fast-foward to the '80s.The 351-2V was available in trucks,Broncos, and Crown Vics.Basically they were the same as early 351Ws,but I think Ford dropped the compression ratio, and added a milder cam( i.e. for emission concerns),and choked the 351 with a single exhaust.Sometime in 1984,Ford brought out the 351 H.O. engine for Broncos&pickups. It featured a Holley 4 bbl.carb, factory dual exhaust, and I believe they bumped up the cam profile, too.By late '84 the 351-2V was gone. All 351 engines made from late '84-'87 were the 351-4V H.O.In 1988,Ford gave the 351 EFI.Fast-foward to 1993.Ford brought out a high-performance pickup called the Lightning. It featured a 240 horsepower EFI351 know as the "GT-40 351"( Ford also called it the "351HP".).Basically,it was a hopped-up standard EFI351.It featured better-breathing GT-40 cylinder heads, a mild performance cam,and a different intake system than the "regular" 351.They upgraded it's exhaust system, too. So basically there were TWO 351 H.O. engines. The '84-'87 version with a 4 bbl.,and the '93-'95 version with EFI.Both the EFI351&EFI351 H.O. used Speed Density electronics.Mass Air conversion kits exist for both,if you want to add serious power to either of these engines. The 351Ws are easy to build-up.
