Did you inspect the supply tube & old EGR for carbon build up?

Did you confirm vacuum was not leaking to the EGR control?

Frequently the EGR doesn't need to be replaced-just cleaned. The supply tube can get plugged w/carbon. Especially on older trucks that may have marginal PCV, may miss an oil change, or be subject to mostly short hauls.

Vacuum lines are notorious for failing.
