Thumbs up Timing Belt/Crank Bolt trick

Hello,

New guy here. I was cruising the net trying to find some info on the timing belt replacement for a '93 2.3L Ranger XLT. Specificly, how to get that nasty crank bolt loose. I found this forum and there it was. I put the breaker bar on the bolt with a piece of cheater pipe attached and laid it on the ground and bumped the starter and it came right off. It was unbelievable. After the way I had pulled and tugged on that puppy with no luck at all. I never would have thought to try that and wanted to say thanks to all. I guess that is what these forums are all about. I'll pull that balancer this morning and try to get it finished up and post the outcome.

Thanks again all, BeanoNC

I just finished my 96 2.3 timing belt, my ingersol rand 1/2 impact gun wouldnt even bring the bolt out, i laid the breaker bar against the frame and bumped the engine over and it came right out. Hope all went well, any questions just ask.

The "bump-start" method of removing the crank bolt can be a lifesaver.
