You could go the relay route, and you can switch it off from the cab for your approach to the gaurd shack. Just flick it back on, and DRL is again active.

Not quite true. jinxie's truck was originally a US vehicle that did not have factory installed DRL's. As you can see the parts I suggested work just fine...

The DRL kit(s) you listed would work just fine for someone who wants to deal with splicing of wires...

Cool, glad it worked. But check out how the catalog reads it would be hard to jump to the parts you suggested without some real questioning.

wiingnut is gaining momentum as a positive member of FTE.
08 just needs to be turned on via smart junction box. I just got my truck last night and the dealer turned mine on.

Hey PowerStrokeHD....

Do you know if DRL Resistor: 6C3Z-14A601-A came equiped on other models or other years of Ford's? I am going for a stroll through the wrecking yard this weekend....any donors out there I can grab one from?

Thanks

I do believe that is a very common resistor used in many Ford vehicles. Super Duties and F-150's for sure, but I also believe many others. I definately do not believe it would be a waste of time.

The actual part will have a different number on it though. The number I gave you is a "service" part number. The part will be printed with a "engineering" part number. So do not worry about that...

Just make sure which ever vehicle you grab it out of is '01 or newer. Preferably '06 or newer as that is the most recent revision of the part. Either would work though...

Also try and grab the bolt/nut that attaches it. It will be helpful when installing it in your truck. I believe it is 6mm or 8mm...

I hate to dig up an old thread here. I just got around to taking my 08 into the dealer for service. I asked them to enable the DRL function and just got the call that "we looked up your VIN and your vehicle is not equipped to support DRL". BS!!! So, given that, I dug up this thread and intended to show him the document that Ed provided above. However, when reading this, I see no mention of the DRL feature or codes associated. Has anyone been successful in using this to spoon feed a dealer who obviously did not take the time to research the concept?

Ed, can you post the page where it states that DRL is enabled using this procedure. I really do not want to get into a fight with this dealer but hate it when someone feeds me BS!

Thanks,

Lee
