56 f100 with 427

i put a 427 in a 56 f100 long bed ,have a t 98 feeding a dana 24 ,everything works except the starter want con tact the flywheel,the bell houseing is from a c700 with a 361,seems fly wheel are ring gear is smaller diamater then the bell houseing is made for,is there differant flywheel sizes for these engines

2 different FE ring gears. Early to 64 were 154 teeth with the Folo-Thru starters. 65 and later 184 teeth and the newer style starters. I believe the flywheel size was the same for the FE just different ring gear tooth count. Not sure about the FT tho.
