quote=Dodge/Cummins;6095949]Do you own a TravelAll, I have a '72 1/2 ton 4wd and a '70 3/4 ton 4wd CrewCab (that's junk/parts). Those IHs are tough SOBs, I accidently backed into the TravelAll in my driveway one time about 3-5 miles and hour right on the front point of the front fender with my Dodge diesel. It actually pushed it backwards a while with the rear bumper and it barely dented it and didn't wrinkle the fender side at all. I was impressed, if I'd done that to any of my other rigs the whole fender would have been toast.[/quote]
Yea I had a few '71 Travelall 3/4 ton 4WD, '72 1/2 ton 4WD,'73 1/2 4WD part truck, '68 P/U 1200 4WD a real beast. I got rid of them a couple of years ago. I had no time to work on them. I was going to convert the '71 to diesel after the engine went, but my father got sick and I lost interest. Maybe one day I'll find another one in great shape and try again. A 6.9 or 7.3 will fit nicely. I had it all mocked up with a old 6.9 cracked block.
I plan on converting my TravelAll to 3/4 ton with the CC parts and selling it as it has the "improved" 392 4-bbl. which is sought after but I got the idea of an I.H. IDI motor swap from another guy on here and the "coolness" factor is hard to ignore. It might turn into one of those "someday" projects. It might also end up being my only non-turbo diesel.
and fuel leaks have diminished also , the powerstrokes were coming in leaking fuel at a number of orings water seperator etc, but that seems to have stopped
as far as lubrication when the ULSD began a couple of diesel engineers relayed the info to us that it did not have enough lubricity for the older mechanical pumps, they had nothing to gain from inhouse trading of info
