Removing Chrome Overlay on Rims

Can you remove the chrome overlay on the 18" rims? Mine are destroyed by the ford brake dust. I wash washing them and it looks like the rims look the same as the ones without.

Has anyone done this?

Know how they look if you take it off?

Thanks

You can surely try chrome polish to clean them up. Mine improved when I did this, but they wont be perfect. You can also try surfing ebay for a set of new take offs to swap your original wheels with. Just be sure to replace your front pads with a low dust ceramic or maybe a set of carquest blue's

when you look close the aluminum behind the chrome it looks finished. looks like they put these on top of a finished wheel. i wish i would have gotten different takeoffs.

Mine don't look finished at all, it looks like the back side.
