The government hasn't done anything yet except devalue the $ which increases fuel prices - well that and have a lot of "hearings" investigating the problem. But a few years ago they decided that slower does save fuel and mandated a maximum 55 mph law. I wouldn't be surprised to see that happen again

a 55 mph nation wide speedlimit is a bit excessive 65-70 i wouldent have a problem with drive slower for a week and you realize its not that bad, i normaly do 65 on the interstates anymore. sometimes 70.

It wasn't a full tank run, but I decided to go ahead and fill up yesterday.

Power service gray bottle doing 65 mph. 178 miles/8.5 gallons=20.9 mpg.

No additives was 18.6 mpg
Power service white bottle was 19.7 mpg.

So far it looks like the gray bottle works the best for me. I should finish the 55 mph run by the end of this week or early next week.

I have an 97 F-350 with 280000 miles and I only get 10-12 mpg. It runs good, I keep the oil and fliters changes but it stills burnes a lot of gas. What can i do?

Hmm... that may be your problem. Have you tried diesel?

I have a friend with a '97 and I think he gets 14-16 mpg on the freeway but I'll ask him today. The guys here talk about poor mileage when the EBP sensor is bad or the tube to it is filled with soot, but I don't even know if a '97 has that same setup. Maybe someone from here can help with that info.

Just filled up after running a tank of the power service gray bottle. On one tank i did nothing but 55 mph for the entire tank.

321 miles/13.1 gallons= 24.5 mpg

One my second tank i had about half and half of 55 and 65 mph. I got tired of doing 55 on the 300 mile trip lol.

268 miles/12.1 gallons= 22.1 mpg.

As for tire size, I'm running 265/75 16's. Stock size calls for a 235/85 16, but the 265/75 is the same height. Just a little wider.

Checked with my friend yesterday and he verified on his 97 psd he's getting between 14 and 16 mpg, driving 36 miles a day on flat highway (1 small hill) and abut 65 mpg. What I should have also asked is the axel ratio and tire size, but I would say that 10 - 12 mpg is definetely low. But with diesel at $4.75 out here, that may be much ado about nothing. I drive the '01 Saturn whenever I can. 40 mpg on the highway, 32 around town (unless I have the a/c going). I only use the truck for pulling my 5er now.
