Alternator Question

I have a 95 E150 with the 351, and my alternator (I believe it's stock) is making a whining noise. I have a couple questions regarding this.

1. It whines after driving for a while, and when I turn off the lights of A/C, it whines much louder. Should I get this replaced/re spun/repaired?

2. If it makes any bit of difference with that replacement, I'm in the process of installing a high-end stereo system that will need plenty of amperage to keep my battery charged. I also have a TV in the van, so is the stock alternator have enough juice to keep everything running smoothly, or should I just go ahead and buy a 300 amp Mean Green alternator that I've always wanted?

I appreciate any advice.

There were 95 & 130 amp "stock" alternators. What's the draw of your "high-end stereo" or are you into deafening Decible Competition? IMO just 10 amps would provide a lot of stereo.

The "300 amp Mean Green" would be the ticket if you were installing a "high-end" electrohydraulic 'Low Rider' suspension system.

Check Ebay for take offs from Cutaways built into ambulances & shuttles w/auxillary AC which demand high amp alternators-for a deal.
