Big lifts for Dually f-350 4 door cab?

Hi,

I'm Looking to get a lift for my truck. I have been looking at the Kelderman Air lift that allows up to 18 in of Max lift height... Nice

But I'm wondering what other lifts are out there that offer 12 in. - 18in. of lift?

Thanks foir the help,
Alex

The lifts for DRW trucks, and SRW trucks are basically identical. While many lifts will decrease the towing, and payload capacity, almost unlimited lift can be achieved.
Where you will run into some troubles, is with the tires. If you intend on keeping the dual tires, and pos. offest front wheel, you are limited to tire that are pretty narrow. You wil aslo have to make a decision on wheel spacers and such. Larger tires in the rear have to be seperated.
Giant Kelderman kits are really designed for the SRW trucks, but can be used on the DRW. I only question the idea of an 18" kit under a dually. 6" kits will clear 35's with a ton of room to spare for a dually, and 8 " will clear 38" rubber. 10 to 12" kits are nearing the 42" neighborhood, and 18 inches might just clear 47" tires. Many, many mods have to be done to get a total of 6, 47" tires under your truck.
How big of a tire are you planning on using?

Sorry should have been maybe a little more specific...

I was looking for at least 42-44in. tires to put on there. But only with the 4 wheel set up. So eliminating the 2 extra wheels from the back. I bought the truck with this mod in mind because I like the look of the extra wide fender in the back with yet even wider fender protectors for the front and back... like the type you bolt on.. not as big as in this picture below.

Looks like this but no where near as bad... saw it in march's issue of diesel power mag i think.. on the cover...
<!-- BBCode End -->
If you look at the back fender that is the bolt on type fender protector I'm talking about.. Added on to the dually fender... I'd like to do that there on the back as well as on the front.. Not the big looking fender thats there now.

You get what I mean by now I'm sure... lol

So that and with 42-44in. tires... and a lift that allows for about 12-18in. But now that I think about it 18in. is a very tall lift.. But I guess I'd have to look at it. I have scene 25in. lift set up on a dually that looked sick. But I cant find the picture right now.. I'll keep looking.

Any help with that?,
Thanks again,
Alex

If you are looking for just clearing tires, then you might be interested in just cutting the fenders like the one in the pic. Ice and snow trucks do this quite a bit. Larger tires for floatation are the key to that rig, and the low center of gravity help to keep it a reasonable off road rig.
This truck pictured has a 6" lift at best. The rest comes from a good ol' "swazall".
If you are not affraid of cutting then you can get rid of the wild lift numbers.
Plenty of problems with driveline angles when you reach these 10, 11, 12, and up inch figures. Gotta start making accomodations to re-index the t-case, and even this has limitations.
That front driveshaft starts getting some wicked angles when big lifts are attempted.
Even those 49" tires can be made to clear fenders if you are not afraid to cut the truck.
I kinda dig the look of that truck ( I probably would not build one ) but I cant discredit the look. For its purpose, that is a pretty awesome rig.
Still capable, and provides a reasonable platform for a worthy snow rig.
I would guess that with the limited lift, that this truck did not take a whole lot of money to lift. There is simply not that much lift on that truck.
How much lift did the owner claim that truck had?

He did'nt say about the lift numbers.... It was off another forum that someone posted about.. jokingly lol funny thing is thats kinda what I want.

I deff. wanna go with the lift of at least 12in. Just clearing the tire is not quite what I had in mind. I basically want this thing to have to have a ladder to climb into it, if you get me. Run over some cars type lift. Just wondering who makes this type of lift if anyone. Most of what I see in pics are custom lifts after 10in. Just havn't had n e luck findin em' yet.

That truck in the pic was to illustrate the type of tire elimination I was intending to do and a fender mod. But for what I have pictured its just too low for me.. I'll try to find that mag pic for ya.

Might jsut have to order a back issue copy and see what it says was used for the lift...

Thanks,
Alex

That one is not that big. Those are only 40" tires with big wheels. Those wheels were used because of the very large Dana axle out back, and the wheel bolt pattern.
That lift kit is a simple over the counter Fabtech 4.0 dirt logic kit. Pretty simple run of the mill stuff. The first truck apprears to be an earlier leaf sprung truck.
Guess it all depends on how you intend to use your truck.
Here is another link.

I liked that Rize lift.. the 12in.

Although I see a 10in. lift for $1,300 which is a "leaf spring" lift so it says (rize)
and a 12in. lift that is a 4 link system thats $3,400 which is well a 4 link system it says (rize)

Its not much the price that I care about but what is the differece between a 4 link system and a leaf spring sys? What makes one better then the other?

I had saw a lifted truck that was hugh with the leaf pring look.. looked a little bouncy I guess you could say... um um Being new to it I still need to learn a little about it all.

Thanks again,
Alex

Alex,

In addition to the Rize 12" system we also offer One Up Offroad systems ranging from 12" to 20"+. Here are a few examples:

Rize 12"

Rize 12"

OUO 16"

OUO 14"

Please let me know if you have any questions. Thanks

Awesome! like what I see (rize seems to be the way to go, love the ladder bars on it). I think I sent you guys an email yesterday actually.

Looking to put a 12in. or 14in. system on the truck.

Can you put up a quote on what it would cost to install both as well as tire clearance? I relize I can add spacers and cut a little to make the tire fit well but just wondering w/o modifications to the truck (cutting wise) and with out additional spacers.

Also any input on the leaf sys. vs. the 4 link? I had a friend from Georgia come by this past weekend with his f-350, says its got a 10.5in. in the front and a 2in block with 8i.n leafs in the back.. He's has a BDS lift and says that 05's and up (I have an 05' dually kingranch crew) use the springs in front so you can't do the leafs in front w/o major mods... Also stats that over 12in. I need to do coil overs... What are they? (said there like shocks inside the springs???

Lol all this is confusing the hell out of me. I would like to find a good tutorial explaining the diff.s and options. But so far I have had limited success with that.

If you could help clear up some of this it would be great.

My tires are going to be needing to be replaced with in the next 10,000 or so miles so I'm looking to get 4 large tires with a lift instead of 6 400$-500$ normal tires.

Thanks alot,
Alex

Alex,

The coil sprung suspension will provide you with much better ride quality over leaf springs. We have converted several leaf sprung trucks to coils but never the reverse. In order to make the switch to leaf springs you would need to swap out your front axle which can be costly. I would instead suggest you stick with either the Rize or OUO systems which will bolt directly on to your truck without major modification. We have tweaked Rize 12" systems up to 14" with both spacers and coil-overs, however this can be tricky to tune properly and will wear key components more rapidly.

Rize 14" on Coils

Rize 14" on Coil-overs

If you really want to go over 12" I would suggest the OUO system as it is designed for this height.

OUO 16" on Front & Rear Coil-overs

I will respond to your email with a couple of quotes. Thanks
