Help me Pick out some New Speakers!

I want to upgrade the stock speakers in my 1999 F250. They will be run with a stock 2004 F250 CD deck, and no amplifier or sub. I don't need anything too nice, just something with some good overall range and sound quality. The prices I have listed is for 2 pairs, front and rear. If you have a different suggestion, let me know. I'd like to keep the price under $100 for 2 pairs.

Sony GT5725A $80

Pioneer TS-G6842R $90

Kicker 07DS680 $90

JBL GTO8627 $100

Pioneer TS-A6872R $103

Kenwood KFC-C5782IE $103

Other ??????

I casted my vote for other. I installed a pair of Phoenix Gold RSD's and have to say that they sound awesome. Onlinecarstereo has them for $69.00 a pair. If you can find a local shop that carries them, give them a listen to. I think you will be surprised.

My opinion is Components make the best sound. A quality set of components up front and decent coaxials for the rear. With most any aftermarket speakers, they will most likely sound better with an amp.

Even good Component systems will not go far into the bass. For bass you need subwoofers which should cover the 80-20Hz range ideally.

This isn't the cheap option, Once I get the cash to do mine, my budget is going to be closer to $350/pair for a set of components, $200 for a sub or pair of them, I'll reuse my class D amp, but I'll pick up another 4 channel (2 to run the components and 2 to one day upgrade my rear speaks should they ever need it.) In all, I plan about $2k invested in it because my last system was amazing at that price tag (not window rattling, but great imaging and dynamic range.)

I voted "Other". I'm a very big fan of Infinity speakers. I had a full set of the Infinity Reference line in my previous car and the sound quality was amazing. Their reference line isn't too spendy and Crutchfield has them buy one get one half off right now. I installed Polk db571 in my F250 because they were on sale, but I have been disappointed and look forward to replacing them with Infinity speakers. Do yourself a favor and ditch the 6x8" stock speaker design and go with 6.5" speakers, round speakers just sound better.

You could leave the rear speakers stock, but do a good set in the front and add a sub. I like to go with a single 10" in a sealed box for tight accurate bass.

That is what I have for now. The stock premium speakers sound pretty decent with the bottom end covered by subs.

I had the premium speakers (I think so anyway, I had the cd-6 stereo). I was amazed when I took them out and found they were a single full range speaker, not coaxial with a tweeter. The new coaxial speakers with tweeters have much more detail on the high end.

I vote other and recommend Focal components I remember a drastic change in sound when I swapped out the stock for these.

Stock are rated for 25 watts peak and the Focals are rated for 60 watts rms so I guess it all depends on if you are going to run a amp or not.

Thoughts for the future.

Will these mount right in the stock mounting location in a 99 f250 SD???
